AMERICAN EFFORTS
|v m WASHINGTON, January 4. _The Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, at a Press Conference, indicated that the United States would make an effort to bring Poland and. Russia together diplomatically, and thus prevent any flare-up now that the Red Army has crossed the Polish frontier.
When asked about President Mikolajezyk's visit, Mr. Hull replied that the purpose could be inferred from the situation in Europe. He added that the United States Government had given very careful attention to all such matters when it was* practical and feasible to do so. All such studies are made in the friendliest spirit.
