OBITUARY
SIR HENRY STRAKOSCH
Rec. 12.40 p.m. LONDON, October 31. The death has occurred of Sir Henry Strakosch, adviser to the Secretary of State for India since 1937.
The late Sir Henry Strakosch began his banking career in London in 1891 and since 1895 had been closely
connected with- South African industrial development, especially the goldmining industry. He acted as financial adviser to the South African Government, at League of Nations Assemblies, the Genoa Conference, and the Imperial Conference in 1923, and was a delegate for South Africa at the League Assemblies in 1923 and 1024. He was also a member of the Council of India from 1930 till its dissolution in 1937, and a delegate for India at the Monetary and Economic Conference in 1933.
