Government House, weumgxun. October 31. His Excellency the Governor-General attended Divine Service at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul this morning. November 1. His Excellency the Governor-Gene-ral received Brigadier A. B. Williams this morning. . Later his Excellency received the Bishop of Melanesia. Colonel J. Evaa-Smith, Territorial Commander of the 'Salvation Army in New Zealand, accompanied by Mrs. Smith, spent the weekend at Napier inspecting the Bethany Hospital and in- conducting special services. He returned to Wellington this morning. Mr. F. W. J. Gould, of Christchurch, has been elected to the board of directors of the New Zealand Shipping ComPaMr.' V. J. Lamer has been appointed chairman of directors of the South British Insurance Company for the current year. , , ~, ~ The late Mr. Walter Roderick Abbott bequeathed £500 to the Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Blind Soldiers' and Sailors' Fund (No. 2). The trustees of this fund have received £250 on account of this legacy from the Guardian Trust.
