CUSTOMS REVENUE
An increase of £85,993 is shown in the net Customs revenue collected at Wellington during October when compared with the returns for October last year, the figures being £268,509 and £182 516. For the -ten months of this year the increase is £190,679, the total revenue being £2,305,452. Sales tax collection at £99,234, during October shows a very slight decrease when compared with October, 1942. For the ten months this year's total of £946,452 is £22,109 lower than for the corresponding period last year. Beer duties for the month show a slight increase at £13,551, but for the ten-month period they are £157,196, which is better by £35,519 when "compared with the same figure last year. War tax totals £384,866 for the month, an increase of £26,852 over October last year, and for the ten months the total this year is £3,743,006, an increase of £1,241,640 over the revenue for the corresponding ten months last year. PA. » AUCKLAND, This Day. The Customs duty for October amounted to £182,830, making £1,805,950 for the ten months of this year, compared with £1,923,109 for.the ten months last year. The excise on beer for the past month amounted to £27,717, and the sales tax revenue was £108,311. The war expenses account showed a return of £310,279, making £2,862,629 for the ten months compared with £2,018,377 for the ten months last year.
