WORK OF V.M.C.A.
At a meeting of the V.M.C.A. board of directors recently Mr. J. S. Reid, chairman of the boys' work committee, presented the boys' division report, which, showed that the V.M.C.A. was operating in nine suburban areas as well as at the central V.M.C.A.
Mr. Reid explained that although the suburban work showed a total of 300 members, it was only in its infancy, and that plans had been • prepared to extend the activities in each of the groups now functioning, as well as in the nature and extent of the activities themselves. It was hoped that the future would see a V.M.C.A. building m each of the suburban areas yhere a complete programme of physical education, recreation, education, and religious training in all age groups could be established. To give this work impetus, a membership campaign was being inaugurated to increase the membership of the city V.M.C.A. 'Mr. R. H. Nimmo, president, expressed his approval of the drive for membership. "The facilities of the V.M.C.A. for directing the lives of young people towards ideals of health, citizenship, and Christian living must be extended to the suburban areas." said Mr. Nimmo, "and the launching of this campaign for increased membership will mean a rapid, extension of our work among boys in the suburbs."
