COMMENT IN BERLIN
LONDON, October 12. The German news agency's diploI matic commentator, quoted by Berlin ■ radio, insisted that the Azores • agreement did not surprise political quarters in Berlin. He said: "If the Wilhelmstrasse for the present is avoiding issuing a statement, this is because it is awaiting additional information, particularly from Lisbon. Nevertheless, the opinion is held in Berlin that Portugal, obviously under " strong British and American pressure, has agreed to concessions which are celebrated in Britain and the United States as valuable assets in the fight against Germany." According to Berlin radio, Portugal has agreed that all Axis consulates in the Azores should be closed and that all Axis nationals should leave the islands.
