THEFT AS A SERVANT
P.A. AUCKLAND, This Day. James Francis Campbell, 35, married, former .stationmaster at Mamaku, was sentenced by Mr. Justice Callan today to six months' imprisonment with hard labour for" theft as a servant of £346 belonging to the Railway Department. Counsel for the prisoner (Mr. Finlay) said that Campbell's superannuation money (£280), as well as back pay (£36) would go towards repayment of the moneys taken, and made a plea for leniency. His Honour in pronouncing the sentence said that the Court had to consider the.effect on others in positions of trust. _ -
