SECOND FRONT DEMAND
LONDON DEPUTATION
Rec. 2 p.m. LONDON, September 20. Police dispersed a crowd of about 500 people at the corner of Downing Street tonight after a deputation of three men and one woman had called at No. 10 to see Mr. Churchill, to demand the opening of a second front in France. While the deputation was at No. 10 the crowd sang the • "Internationale," while others chanted "Invade France now." When -the deputation was told that it was not permitted to see Mr. Churchill letters were handed in demanding why Hitler was given a ..month in which to organise his defence, why Mussolini had. been allowed to escape, and why full advantage had not been taken of the crisis in Germany created by the capitulation of Italy.and the Russian summer offensive.
