POLITICS ON SUNDAY
Sir, —Knocked about as it may be, the sanctity of the Sabbath is still a sheet anchor of our race. It is repugnant, therefore, that any political candidate should strike at the anchor chain by using Sunday as an opportunity for political electioneering, apart from the faqt that by so doing he steals a march over candidates who do not adopt this practice. Why should such candidates have extracts from Sunday electioneering addresses reported in the Press, thus lending the acquiescence of the Press to such practices?—l am etc., R. C. McQUARRIE. ["The Post" has not "lent its acquiescence" either to electioneering or other business or diversion on Sunday, but has followed the practice of informing readers where this has appeared to be warranted by considerations of fairness or public interest.]
