IMPRESSIVE FIGURES
The dispatch to Wellington of a further 8972 overseas parcels was advised in the house report presented at the monthly meeting of the women's activities sub-committee of the Auckland Metropolitan Patriotic Committee. During the month 1416 scarves, 1066 pairs of mittens, 1296 balaclavas, and 960 hussifs were delivered to the Army authorities.
The report on the work of the Navy League's Women's Committee showed that 1225 garments were made by the knitting circle during August. The spinning circle produced 466£0z of wool and 87 pairs of seaboot stockings were knitted. During the three months to date the sewing circle contributed 4627 articles, consisting of 217 hussifs, 4256 handkerchiefs, and 154 bags. The Air Force Relations report stated that 484 knitted garments were received during the month, and a large number of hussifs were made and distributed. The fitting of garments for personnel stationed in the metropolitan area is now undertaken at the committee's city depot.
The takings at the patriotic shop for the month were £156 18s 10d. bringing the total for the year to £2826 18s lOd.
