NEW YORK, September 14. The New York Institute of Marine Underwriters has announced a reduction of rates between American Atlantic ports and' New Zealand and Australia from 6 to 5 per cent., and from Gulf ports to New Zealand and Australia from 5% to 5 per cent. Rates are drastically reduced to Britain, Ireland, the Mediterranean, and India as a result of the Allied military and naval progress.

TAXI FINANCE,

Yellow Cabs of Australia, Ltd., Melbourne reports net profit for year ended June of £14,173, against £14,470 for last year; balance from last year £11,246. Dividends paid and recommended, at 8 per cent, per annum, £12,629; carry-forward, £12,790. "Rubber shortage is causing the directors concern" and may compel curtailment of services. A number of cabs are already running on tubeless covers. New taxicab control in Melbourne is operating smoothly, ensuring service to essential users.
