TAXI DRIVER INJURED

An allegation has been made to the police by Mr. M. D. Rodden, taxi driver for Grey Cabs, Ltd., that he was assaulted last night in Norway Street by two members of the United States Marine Corps. He was taken by the police to hospital, where cuts and bruises on his head were attended to before he went to the Central Police Station to make a statement. Mr. Rodden's story is that two marines engaged him in Dixon Street to drive them to Aro Street and from there he turned into Norway Street, where he says he was hit On the head by one man who was in the back seat while the man in the front seat struggled with him. He called for help and got out of the car, and as people approached the two men ran away, but he retained their hats. Detectives and investigating officers of the United States Marine Corps are inquiring into the matter today.
