RISING TAXATION

A TRUE INTERPRETATION,

It is remarkable to what lengths distortion can be carried in order to prove a case. The National Party claim that domestic taxation, apart from war taxation, will rise twentythree shillings per head this year. They also admit that there is no increase in the rate of taxation this year. Therefore the extra taxation must reflect increased earnings, increased business, increased prosperity. Yet, by implication, these are the very things that the National Party condemn.

The truth of the matter is that more people than ever before now earn enough to come within the income-tax-paying class. And after taxation is paid, people have more money left than ever before.

The Labour Government has gone a long way in its goal, of bringing economic freedom to every home. The fit. Hon. Peter Fraser, its leader, has announced Labour's plan for a minimum home and family income that will realise this goal fully. There has been no sterner battler for better wages and rewards than Peter Fraser. He has fought and won the fight for the great mass of workers who formerly had no champion. He will continue to fight, in the forthright and fearless manner that is his, for economic, social, and national security to all.

Wellington Central electors have realised that by returning Peter Fraser as their member, election after election, for 25 years. Hold on to prosperity by voting Peter. Fraser— and Labour —again.—Advt.
