HUTT SPRING SHOW
Visitors to the Hutt Valley horticultural spring show, which was opened in St. James's Hall, Lower Hutt, this afternoon by Air Commodore S. T. Jarman, D.5.0., D.F.C., were pleasantly surprised at the wealth of spring blooms displayed., It had been generally expected that the rough weather would seriously affect the entries but they are the highest for years past and the quality is also of a high order. There were so many entries that the, society had to allocate almost the whole of the restricted space in the hall to competitive classes, and there was room for only two islands "for exhibition only," those of Mr. H. Poole, who shows a brilliant' stand of cinerarias, and Mr. S. H. D. Peryman showing daffodils, polyanthus, and hyacinths.
'The quality of the vegetables shown is good, but the entries were disappointing in view of the special attention being given, by the society to this side of the show.
The stiow will continue tonight and tomorrow afternoon and evening.
