SWISS DIFFICULTIES
ECONOMIC PREDICAMENT

As a result of the developments in Italy, Switzerland is pessimistic about the economic predicament in which she finds herself, says the Geneva correspondent of "The Times." German Customs officials are now operating on all the Swiss frontiers, as a result of which there is no outlet and no door through which vital foodstuffs can be imported. While Italy was her own master she put the port of Genoa and her railways at Switzerland's disposal, but Germany is not interested in such facilities, and, even if she were, she would probably not help Switzerland, because of technical difficulties.
