SATURDAY CELEBRATION
Dunedin.—The Government proposals for the celebration' of Italy's capitulation were not favoured by a meeting this morning of representatives of the local bodies and trade organisations. It was decided merely- to have *a parade of the military and bands, including, if possible, men on furlough or returned from the war.
RAILWAY -STATION."FIRE.
Philadelphia.—A fire, 'at the Pennsylvania Railroad Company's Broad Street station left 16 tracks
and six passenger coaches . a
jumble of charred wreckage. The damage is estimated at 250,000 dollars. More thuh 350 persons, mostly firemen and civilian defence volunteers, received, attention for cuts and smoke , inhalation. Several were seriously injured.—P.A.
