KURILE ISLANDS
JAPS REPORT ENEMY RAID
LONDON, September 13. The Japanese report another raid on the Kurile Islands, 150 miles north of Japan. They say that 18 bombers raided northern ■Chishima (the Japanese name for the Kuriles). Eight were shot down. Two Japanese transports were damaged.
The cost of living index compiled by the Canadian Bureau of Statistics rose 0.4 during July. The index is now 119.2. This is the sixth consecutive month in which the index has recorded an increase. The total .rise over the six months is 2.3 points.
