DAVID v. GOLIATH DEMOCRATIC SOLDIER LABOUR contains too many soldiers of this war on leave without pay or allowances for their wives, workers on leave, farmers on low guaranteed prices to be able to afford large advertisements or hoardings. In addition, we are only to be jtfven one radio hook-up. Our distinguished and gallant soldier candidates . are good enough to fight 'for New Zealand, but are not considered worthy to enjoy the freedom of debate they fight for, or not as worthy as the ex-C.O.'s. Falsehood or Truth? Labour will say we are helping the Nationalists. The Nationalists will say we are helping Labour. Has Democratic Soldier Labour worked with the Nationalist Party? The truth is the very contrary. Conscription? When the Fraser Government conscripted for the Middle East, Mr. Lee moved for a referendum stating that if Japan came into the war we would need all our men in the Pacific. This was the attitude of the Curtin Government. Mr. Lee'-s motion lapsed for want of a seconder, Nationalist and Labour uniting. War Insurance Racket? When the ' war insurance tax was. being imposed upon New Zealand, Mr. Lee's was the only voice raised in opposition, Nationalist and Labour uniting in blessing this unjust tax. War Sales Tax? When the Nash Budget was skyrocketting prices with a sales tax on boots, shoes, clothing, and a hundred essentials of life, Messrs. Lee and Atmore divided Parliament against the Bill. Labour and Nationalist united to increase prices. ' War Wage Tax? Mr. Nash's War Wage Taxation taxed wages at a lower level than anywhere in the British Empire. The pensioner's few shillings of . earnings, the charwoman s wage, the apprentice's few shillings were all cut. When Mr. Lee divided Parliament, Nationalist and Labour voted together. Duration and Twelve Months? When Mr. Fraser prolonged Parliament for the duration of the war and 12 months the Labour, and Nationalist Parties voted together against Mr. Lee. Manpower Bungle? Mr. Lee's has been the only voice raised regularly against the manpower bungle' in Parliament. Democratic Soldier Labour stands for a revision of our war commitments which at present are too great. • Wage Tax Coming? Without a, revision of manpower commitments our income will fall and Fraser-Nash, supported by Nationalists, will be imposing another wage cut. Truth versus Misrepresentation To reply to the massive hoardings, the mighty advertisements and the blaring radio propaganda of the Labour and Nationalist Goliaths, Democratic Soldier Labour has only truth on the lips of candidates, many of whom are soldiers on leave without pay. On the road gaily, Without a crust of bread,Yet gaily marching The regiment. March With Democratic Soldiers! If you want to send a Stone for David's Sling, send donations -to Lee, M.P.. Parliament, Wellington.
