PRESENTS FOUR WINNERS

The Takanini trainer ,P. Smith and the jockey H. N. Wiggins occupied the limelight at the Avondale Jockey Club's Spring Meeting at Ellerslie on Saturday, when they had four wins with Yorkish, Representative, Balfron, and Lord Chancellor.
After rain overnight the track was heavy, but the weather was fine. The totalisator handled £146,118, an increase of £49,580 on the 1942 turnover.

MARTOX, September 11
The weather was fine for the opening day of the Wanganui Meeting at Marton, and there was a good crowd present, the totallsator handling £32,823 10s, an increase of £10,20(5 10s over last year. The track was heavy, but form proved to be fairly reliable, only one outsider scoring.
Favourite for the Marangai Handicap, Broiveine registered a clear-cut win, drawing away to a three lengths' victory from Sanction, who had to come from some distance back. Amlgo made a good showing for third. Whackie, a stable-mate of Broivelne's, completed the double by taking the Flying Handicap, and as Martial Note had dead-heated with Master Ted in the Debutant Stakes their trainer, H. Dulieu, of New Plymouth, had an excellent day. -■
