CAPTURE OF MARIUPOL
Rec. 9 a.m. LONDON, September 12.
Mariupol was captured by a daring land and sea operation. Cossacks worked round from the north to the German rear west of Mariupol, while a large party of Soviet marines landed on Thursday night oh the coast some miles beyond the port. The Germans were caught between a pincers and thrown into confusion. The town fell after 10 hours of bitter street fighting.
