An Algiers communique says that the Fifth Attrny's progress inland continues, and reinforcements are moving up. The German resistance is strong. The Eighth Army, consisting of British and Canadians, has pushed further north. The situation in the Taranto area continues to be very satisfactory. Allied troops north of the town are bottling"Up the_ German rearguards. Algiers radio says that Marshal Badoglio issued the following declaration to the Italians: "The Germans have attacked us violently on our national territory, and. in our towns and harbours. I invite you to reply to each act of violence with another act of violence."
Palermo radio said last night: "The King of Italy announced: 'Circumstances forced the Crown and the Government to move to another locality in Italy.*" ...
