THE STRAW AND THE WIND
Symptomatic of the events in Italy which resulted 'in the resignation of Mussolini is a little episode contained in a letter out of Italy last June. In a crowded bus, with the entrance at the rear and the exit in the front end, a l,ong queue of waiting passengers saw two smug-laoking German officers in uniform enter by the exit door. The whole of the queue booed, and an Italian officer in uniform shouted, in English, "Get out of the bus! Get out of Italy!"
