RED ADVANCE GOES ON
ACTIVITY IN THE NORTH LONDON, July 27, The Russian army driving on Orel from the north is reported by the "Red Star" to have made good progress. The Germans have been counter-attacking, using 50 or 70 tanks at a time. In the south Soviet troops pushing up the railway line from Kursk have captured two more stations, and are only 15 miles from Orel. Reuters correspondent says the Russians have taken a' town southwest of Orel.. On the Byelgorod front also the Russians have improved their positions. A Soviet communique says that" important local battles have been fought in the neighbourhood of Nga, about ten miles south of Lake Ladoga.
