ANNOUNCEMENT TODAY September 25, a Saturday, is the date of the General Election. The Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) will announce this in the House of Representatives today. ' The dissolution of Parliament will probably take place in the week ending August 28. It is likely thst the writs will be issued on August 30, which will allow nine days before the closing of nominations and 17 days between then and the date of the election. It is expected that the present sitting of Parliament will extend over (another three weeks or a month.
