SEED POTATOES
HOME GARDEN SUPPLIES "While the market is still supplied with seed potatoes," said the Minister of Agriculture (Mr. Barclay) today, "there is a possibility that later in the season this item may be in short supply, due to the greatly increased acreage required to be planted by commercial growers in order to meet the needs of the Allied Armed Forces next season. I would accordingly urge all home gardeners who have not yet obtained their seed potatoes to take steps as soon as possible to see that they have sufficient tubers to meet their planting requirements. "Seed potatoes are still available from retailers, but one cannot predict how long this state of affairs may continue, though private growers may make themselves largely independent of this source if they act promptly in reserving for seed purposes potatoes from other sources which might be available now but not later.".
