MR. M. H. ORAM SELECTED

; " The selection of Mr., M. H. Oram as National Party candidate for the Manawatu electorate, at present held by ' the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, who is not seek- - ing re-election, was made at a large : meeting of delegates from all parts of the electorate held at Feilding last . night. Mr. J. H. Mcllroy, chairman of t the Wellington division of the National t Party, presided. 3 Mr. Oram, who was born in Christi church, was educated at Wellington i College and Victoria University College. He is a barrister and solicitor , practising in Palmerston North and is i the owner of a farm in the Manawatu I electorate. Mr. Oram has made an I important contribution to educational - administration. He is chairman of the , Palmerston North High School Board - of Governors, a member of the Vie- . toria College Council, a. member of - the Massey College Board of Governors, and a member of the School of Agriculture. While at Victoria University College he took the degrees of M.A.. with honours in mathematics, and LL.B. After the selection had been announced a motion of confidence in the National Party and continued confidence in its leader, Mr. S. G. Holland, > was carried unanimously and enthusl- ■ astically.
