PROBLEM OF MARTINIQUE Rec. 9 a.m. WASHINGTON, July. 14. The State Department announced that M. Henri Hoppenot, who is succeeding Admiral Robert in control of Martinique, and his assistants, are expected to arrive in Martinique in the near future. As soon as M. Hoppenot has officially assumed authority the United States, will'resume relations with Martinique. ' I M. Hoppenot has assured the United States Government that the resources of the French Antilles will be fully mobilised for the prosecution of war' against the Axis, and all French war- | ships and merchantmen made available for the war effort. MORE NEW ADHERENTS . Rec. 9 a.m. LONDON, July 14.! Representatives of the Vichy Government in Chungking have informed the Chinese Foreign. Office that they have transferred- their allegiance to the French Committee of National Liberation. A French gunboat which is the only French warship in China waters was taken over by the committee at the suggestion of the crew.
