W.D.F.U. CONFERENCE
The Dominion executive of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union, invested with conference powers, opened its annual meeting in St. Andrew's Hall this morning. Mrs. E. B. Orr, of Southland, acting Dominion president, was in the chair. Some 150 delegates from all parts of New Zealand were present. The morning was spent with domestic matters. In her address, Mrs. Orr referred to the desperate need of the British Empire for suitable population. Here the division, which has done, and is doing, so much for mothers, must do move. "We can plan," said Mrs. Orr, "a scheme of help, to begin immediately women are released from war service. We caii press for eh 1(3 endowment for every ch:ld, and we can encourage immigration of war orphans. And, if we must have adult immigrants, let them be men and women with a love for land. We must not forget that we are trustees of the soil as well as of the race."
