BLITZ CONTINUES
400 PLANES IN DAY RAIDS LONDON, June 24. More than 400 R.A.F. bombers took part'in daylight attacks today on Belgium and France. The sky over the Channel was filled this morning with aircraft going out to resume the attack. Their targets were enemy airfields and industrial and railway centres. The attacks were carried out by Ventura, Boston, and Typhoon bombers, escorted by squadrons of Spitfires. It is officially announced that between 400 and 500 of our aircraft were engaged on these operations, which extended from Flushing to the Cherbourg Peninsula. Ten enemy fighters were destroyed. Two of our bombers and four fighters are missing. Rec. noon. LONDON. June 24. Typhoon bombers attacked a target at Saint Omer. Facing intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire, they dived to 4000 feet for the attack and scored direct hits on the target and also on a nearby railway. Other Typhoons attacked Maupertuis. Bomb bursts were seen on airfields and in dispersal areas.
