MERCHANT SERVICE
"Bobstay," supporting "Eauxhomme," seeks information regarding the status of merchant seamen. "In the Budget Mr. Nash mentioned airmen, soldiers, and our sailors. Are merchant seamen included in his remarks as regards pensions and rehabilitation? Further, what is the exact status of New Zealand merchant seamen? Are they deemed to be on active service? Any risks run locally are surely shared by the Merchant Navy. Are merchant seamen whose duties take them overseas on active service and eligible after the war for the pensions and rehabilitation arrangements conceded to the uniformed services?"
