HUGE CONVOY
137 ALLIED SHIPS
ENTERING MEDITERRANEAN

One of the greatest convoys ever assembled off Gibraltar, comprising 137 Allied ships, is now sailing into the Mediterranean, according to a report from La Linea, southern Spain. The ships include troop transports, tanker?, freighters, and one hospital ship.
British battleships and aircraftcarriers which have been in Gibraltar Bay have also sailed, it is stated, and the harbour is now emptier than it has been for several months/Seventy ships in a giant convoy, including troop transports and tankers, went directly into the Mediterranean from the Atlantic, and the remaining 67 vessels sailed from Gibraltar and joined the Atlantic section. The Associated Press of Great Britain says that Hie sailing of the convoys follows • quickly ion Axis invasion alarms. The Italian newspapers and' radio stations all'day and all night are pouring out invasion warnings, exhorting people to fight to the last and to emulate the people of Britain, who refused to give up in 1940 when disaster seemed imminent.
