AXIS CONVOY OFF ITALY
ITALIAN TARGETS HAMMERED (Rec. 11 a.m.) RUGBY, June 3.
The Admiralty announces that a small force of Allied destroyers, without suffering casualties or damage, smashed up an Axis convoy off the southern tip of Italy, crippling a destroyer and sinking three snips. The destroyer was set on fire and driven ashore.
The. Mediterranean air forces pounded Pantelleria, and Warhawks gave Sardinia another hammering. An island off the south-west coast of Sardinia was also attacked.
In the Aegean Sea our aircraft sank two ships and damaged a third.— 8.0. W.
