MR. A. B. CROKER The death occurred suddenly yesterday of Mr. Audrey • Basil Croker, a well-known barrister and solicitor practising in Wellington. The late Mr. Croker was born in Blenheim in 1899 and was educated in Dunedin, at The Terrace School, Wellington, Wellington College, and Victoria University College, where he graduated LL.B. Some four years ago he was joined in partnership by Mr. R. I. M. Sutherland. Mr. Croker's death causes a grievous loss to Freemasonry in Wellington and, indeed, to the Order in New Zealand. An initiate of New Zealand Pacific Lodge, No. 2, Wellington, he became Master in 1936, and since then has identified himself prominently with almost every branch of the Craft. In 1941 Grand Lodge conferred on him the office of Grand Lecturer, and he was reinvested in that office last November. He compiled a history of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand at the time of the jubilee celebrations in 1940. ' The late Mr. Croker is survived by his wife (nee Olive Salmon), a son, and a daughter. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at Karori Crematorium.
