NEW CLUB FOR ALLIED FORCES
Roomy and well-equipped, the American Red Cross Club in the Hotel Cecil Building on Lambton Quay is to be officially opened tomorrow afternoon, and will provide a much-needed rest and recreation centre for Allied forces in "Wellington. Future plans provide for the erection of a dance hall on vacant land adjacent to the building, and when this is done the club will be complete. In addition to billiard tables, a library, and other amenities, there will be a soda fountain on the ground floor as one of the central attractions.
Until the arrival of Mr. Starry, who will be club director, Miss Rose Jaboolian, of the American Red Cross, will be acting director, assisted by Miss Helen Macdonald, also of the American Red Cross staff. The organisation and preparation of the club have been the responsibility of Miss Hannah More Frazer, director of club and offcamp activities for the American Red Cross in New Zealand.
