GORE MEETING POSTPONED

(P.A.) GORE, January 26. I The Gore Racing Club committee has decided to abandon the meeting fixed for February 13 and to apply for permission to race on March 6, when the programme will be made to comply with the conditions stipulated by the Trotting Conference through the Minister of Internal Affairs. Normally the club runs two trotting events each day, but owing to the reduction in the number of racing days only one trotting event was held at the last meeting, the programme being approved. Then a similar proposal for the February Meeting met with opposition from the Trotting Conference, which refused to approve the programme. The club then issued a programme deleting all trotting events. The Minister has now refused to give the club a totalisator licence for the meeting. The committee expressed great dissatisfaction at the action of the Minister and the Trotting Conference, particularly in view of the fact that at least one other club had taken similar action to that at first proposed at Gore j —under which one trot would be held l —and no opposition had been offered.
