PATRIOTIC FUNDS
QUOTAS TO BE RAISED
Final estimates for the year for the Wellington Provincial Patriotic^ Council and Metropolitan Patriotic Council have been completed by the treasurer, Mr. B. O. Petersen, who has been advised of the National. Patriotic Fund Board's levy. For the Dominion the board's levy is £1,129,500, less the Government subsidy on the prisoners jof war account (£340,500), making^ the net national levy £789,000. The Wellington provincial quota, 22 per cent., is £173,580. In addition, the provincial council has to find £75,942 to cover a welfare contribution, expenses (at £3500 per month), an amount to readjust accounts with the national board, and contingencies. Against this £75,942 there are cash and investments, £44,112, so that the amount to be found by the various zones in the Wellington province is £205,410. ■_ = Mr. Peterson has worked out. the zone levies as follows:— Wellington (49 per cent.), £ 100.651; Wairarapa (13 per cent.), £26,703; Wanganui (9 per cent.), £18.487; Palmerston North (8 per cent.),: £16,433; Feilding (9 per cent.), £18,487; levin (4 per cent.), £8217; Taihape X 2 per cent.), £4108; Marton (2 per cent.),] £4108; Taumarunui (3 per cent.), £6162; Waimarino (1 per cent.), £2054.
