The British Sailors' Society has been very busy during the past few weeks and many have been -the expressions of appreciation received from visitors from the Merchant Navy, Air Force, Army, and Royal Navy for the happy times experienced. All-day and halfday outings have been held to Paraparaumu, Maidstone Park, and Day's Bay, and occasional evening hikes to the look-out on Mt. Victoria. An officer of the U.S. navy and constant visitor to the society, provided last Sunday's tea. Visiting soloists who have recently contributed items are Misses Helen Griffiths, and Joan Gooday, and Messrs. Noel Webley, R. Butt, T. Mosley, F. S. Jackson, and D. Greenfield. The society has received woollen comforts from the Wanganui branch of the Navy League, and compact holdalls from interested friends in Timaru. These articles, together with gramophone records ahd many books, have been distributed to seagoing men visiting the society. It has also been possible to extend private hospitality in several homes, but the society would be glad to receive offers from any people who could offer visiting seafarers a few days' rest in their homes.
