(By "Binocular.") Saturday was a day of records for the Wellington Racing Club, for Rakanui clipped lsec off the course record for a mile and a half " in the W.R.C. Handicap, and Prince Shad set a :new figure of L 39 for hacks in the Douro Cup. Further, despite the handicap of many patrons being held up in transit to the course, the big sum of £ 172,781 was handled by the totalisator, making the aggregate for the two days £140,902 more than last year's figures. The return'►for Saturday set a new standard for the club, ; topping the openings day's record by no less than £26,701. Another feature of the day .was the success enjoyed by Mr. G. M. Currie, of Wangahui, who was represented by three winners on Saturday.
