TYPHUS IN GERMANY

BIG INCREASE REPORTED

LONDON, January 24. A League of Nations report from Geneva reveals that there were nearly 4000 cases of typhus among German civilians during the first nine months of last year. This compares with no cases of the disease in 1939, six in 1940. and nearly 400 in 1941. Since last September the Germans have stopped issuing figures of typhus cases. No German army typhus figures are available, but the Geneva report indicates that they are higher than the civilian figures.
