Russian Army's Sweep
LONDON, January 22. It is reported that the Soviet Forces are now only seven miles east of Voroshilovgrad, and that they have taken a town 32 miles to the north-west of the city. force trapped in the pocket south of Voronezh. Yesterday, the enemy made an effort to break out, but it failed. In Hihe Stalingrad area, now some 200 miles behind the front line, the Russians are steadily wiping out the remnants of the trapped Axis army. One message says that 2000. more Germans have been killed in fierce fighting during the last 48 hours. There is plenty of fight left in the doomed Germans and they are making Violent counter-attacks at some points. A strong German attack in a market square in the city's outskirts was overwhelmed and the enemy was routed.
