PLANES OVER BURMA
ENEMY HAMMERED
LONDON, January 21. American heavy bombers in Burma hammered at rail tracks between Rangoon and Mandalay the night before last. Many hits were scored on the railway junction, as well as on storage dumps. All the aircraft got safely back to base. The R.A.F. in Burma has also been busy, making almost ceaseless attacks on Japanese targets. Our long-range bombers flew right into Central Burma last night to .bomb the aerodrome at Toutigoo. They also dropped bombs on Japanese positions on Akyab Island. The same day our aircraft carried out a number of offensive patrols and attacked many other targets in Central Burma, including the airfield at Shwebo. The night before a force of Wellingtons bombed an aerodrome and the railway junction. Once again not a single R.A.F. machine wa§ lost.
