ABOUT 130 PLANES USED
LONDON, January 21. It is learned that the Germans used about 130 planes in daylight attacks on London and the south-east coast area, 100 of which were fighters and the remainder fighter-bombers. The fighters turned back on reaching the coast, leaving the others to dash inland. One group raced up the Thames Estuary and across parts of Kent, and some circled the capital's outskirts, while others went on dropping bombs at various points. Numerous air battles were fought over London's streets, but most of the dogfights occurred over the Channel.
