LONDON, December 31. . Eighth Armj** advanced units are skirmishing with General Rommel's rearguard over rocky terrain between Sirte and Misurata. Wadi Sofezzin, 40 miles west of Wadi ;Zamzam, is the only remaining defence point between Wadi Zamzam and Misurata. Reuters Cairo correspondent says that patrols pushing west parallel to the Sirte road reached the Belezzideh waterhole, 40 to 50 miles south-west of Sirte* and 20 miles south of Buerat. A. Middle East communique states: "Nothing to report yesterday except patrol. activity by our troops in. contact with the enemy westward of Wadi Bei el Kebir. There is an increase of enemy air activity over the battle'area, ana in successful engagements our fighters destroyed one enemy fighter without loss. Air operations on the night of December 29 were on a small scale. All our aircraft returned."
