CUSTOMS REVENUE

DECREASE SHOWN

Net Customs revenue collected at the port of Wellington last month shows a decrease compared with December, 1941. Increases are shown under all other heads. Last month's net Customs revenue totalled £232,702, against £250,657 in December, 1941, a decrease of £17,955. For the 12 months the figures are £2,542,046 and £2,936,709 respectively, a decrease of £394,663. Collections of sales tax in December totalled £ 101,841, compared with £98,022 in December, 1941, an increase of £3819. For the calendar years the totals are £1,162,910 and £1,140,525 respectively, an increase of £22,385. Beer excise collections last month were £20,326, compared with £15,109 in December, 1941, an increase of £5217. For the 12 months the. totals are £156,351 and £108,005 respectively, an increase of £48,346. War tax. under its four separate heads, totalled £378,332, against £128,620 in December, 1941, an increase of £249,712. For the calendar Years the totals are £3,224,125 and £1.509.164 respectively, an increase of £1,714,961.
