RUGBY, December 31. The Admiralty announced: "Early today our ships made contact with an enemy force in northern waters. "During the ensuing engagement an enemy cruiser was damaged and withdrew. -An enemy destroyer was severely hit, and when last seen was in a sinking condition. "The operations continue."— 8.0. W.
