BRAZIL ACTIVE IN WAR
RIO DE JANEIRO, December 31. President Vargas told officials of the Brazilian armed forces at a luncheon that Brazil is preparing for active intervention on the fighting front, which will not be limited to a simple expedition of symbolic units. He added that Brazil was ready to fulfil its continental. obligations completely and recognised the persistent need for wider intervention. The President said that Brazil's navy was already participating in transoceanic convoys of men and materials to war theatres and the Brazilian coast was being used as a base of operations for transportation to the war theatres.-
