RESUMPTION OF SESSION

In the absence so far of any official indication of the programme for the resumption of the session in the House of Representatives on Wednesday afternoon, interest is being taken in the question of new appointments t,o the Ministry, and, in consequence, importance is attached to the caucus of the Government. Party to be held on Wednesday morning. The death of the Minister of Public Works (Mr. Armstrong) created one vacancy in the Ministry, and there is another in prospect if Mr. Langstone adheres to his intention, expressed in Canada, to resign as Minister of Lands and Commissioner of State Forests, on his return to the Dominion. There is also the possibility of attention being given to the appointment of a successor to Mr. Langstone as, High Commissioner in Canada, and if there is anything in the suggestion that the Attorney-General (Mr. Mason), will be given this post there will be another Cabinet vacancy to fill. The names of a number of members have been mentioned in connection with the appointments. ' After the disposal of formal business, it is expected that the House will pay tributes on Wednesday afternoon tq the late Mr. Armstrong. It is not known yet whether a secret session will be held. Since. the last sitting events in the war situation have moved with dramatic swiftness, and it may be that members will desire a secret session to hear the latest information from the Prime Minister and other members of the War Cabinet on recent developments.! This week's meeting of the House, which is not expected to extend into the following week, will be the eighth since the session was opened on December 11 last year.
