YACHTING
'fho Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club, ■which'had its first yacht-racing season 60 years ago, commenced its 1942-43 season on Saturday afternoon. ' Associated with . the commodore (Mr. d G. Beckett) in the opening r ceremony were the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Bislqp), the club's president (Sir Charles Xorrrood), the chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board (Mr. W. H. Price), the harbourmaster' (Captain P. S. Peterson), the chairman of the Wellington Provincial Yacht and Motor-boat Association (Mr. G. Tanner), the commodore of the Evans Bay Yacht Club (Mr. E. Hargreares). and , Lieutenant-Com-mander Bothamley. The cup for the winner of last, season's ladies' race was presented to Miss; Tonksr by Lady Norwood. Guests were fafcett; for a short launch trip during the afternoon. ■■ ■■ * . ,
