ANSERS TO CORRESPONDENTS.
"Soldier."—Your Inquiry was referred to the Railway Department, whose reply was as follows:—(a) The travel restrictions do not apply to journeys of 100 miles and under, (b) There is no general provision for the granting of travel permits for holiday purposes, but young people In employment away from home are permitted to travel to their homes during annual holidays on satisfactory evidence being submitted. "B. Fair."—lt is understood that few public bodies are adopting) this practice, and if those few were to change now it would oe unfair to men who enlisted voluntarily i in the early" days of the war on the understanding that this provision would be 1 made for dependants. "Perplexed."—The names of other commands are given, especially in awards of decorations, though it may be that solo work is sometimes more spectacular; but It would be unwise to make comparisons tending to distinctions in the service. G. A. Tombs.—Thank you for information.
