AUSTRALIAN AIRMEN

MELBOURNE. November 2.

The Air Minister, Mr. Drakeford, announced today that an R.A.A.F. unit, based for service in Russia, was helping to protect Allied convoys carrying vital supplies to Murmansk and co-operatinig with the Red Air Force in hunting enemy surface raiders. Though - this was the first time an R.A.A.F. unit had been based in Russia, it was not the first time Australians had seen service with the Red flyers. Australians were also in a Catalina squadron operating from Russian bases.
